Day 27, and Annie is on her way home for (almost) spring break

Today I wanted to have a cheap breakfast so I could have a nice lunch and dinner.
breakfast menu:  hot oatmeal and milk
cost:  $1.42
6 1/2 cups rolled oats:  .73
5 cups milk for cereal:  .40 (on sale for 1.25/gallon)
10 pats of butter for the cereal:  .20
sugar:  .09
Before I forget, here is a view of the new kikkoman product, a large container of oyster sauce, the main sauce ingredient of good yakisoba.  Awesome price, I bought it at Cash & Carry.  I use it in every stir fry.  Very mild and nice, not sweet, the kids love it.  Doesn't taste like oysters, don't be afraid.

It turns out that peanut butter sandwiches are a good choice for today, because the whole school is in a dither, getting ready to host the huge auction event.  No cafeteria is available, so the school children must bring lunches which need not be microwaved.
lunch menu:  peanut butter sandwiches on homemade bread, jam sandwiches, organic raisins, mandarin oranges, carrot sticks
Cost:  $3.58
2 loaves bread @ .38:  .76
3 oz peanut butter:  .19
5 oz jam:  .32
10 oz organic raisins for school snack:  1.00

22 oz carrots:  .37
1 oz cheese for Rodger, he doesn't eat pb:  .10

8 oz salsa:  .64

We saved everybody a half a tortilla, because there were some leftover, so we would have something to munch on at bedtime. We read a great book aloud to the children called, "And the Word Came with Power" and then after the littles went to bed, we watched one of the Horatio Hornblower movies with the older girls.
Annie arrived home bearing gifts from her student dining account's convenience store.  She knows how to win friends and influence people...

mambas for siblings who practice their instruments

crackers to go with the cheese

Today's total:  $9.75 plus some special presents from Annie
